4WD   © 4WD Canter - 16 seats front facing air-conditioned vehicle. Our 4WD’s (16 seaters) have spacious cabs with ample legroom and forward facing seats for increased comfort and a view for appreciation of the scenery. A 4WD vehicle will be used on Kakadu section.

Level 2 fitness  © Maximum Walks: Hikes up to 6-8kms per day. A reasonable level of fitness is required as there will be some walking to view places of interest. Suitable for soft adventures with a passion for bushwalking and exploring. Passengers must be fit and active.

Itinerary: day by day

Day 1 - (Lunch, Dinner)
You will be collected from your Darwin accommodation at approximately 7.00am for the short journey to Litchfield National Park. Explore the waterfalls, spring-fed streams and rugged sandstone escarpments of Litchfield National Park. Discover intriguing cathedral and magnetic termite mounds and swim, hike and explore Florence and Wangi Falls*. Enjoy lunch before joining a 2 hour Indigenous cultural experience where our hosts will impart their knowledge and history of this ancient culture. From basket weaving, to spear throwing, bush tucker and medicine, this experience will leave you with a lasting impression and a greater understanding of Aboriginal culture. Afterwards we travel to our private campsite in the Mary River region where the local wallaby population welcomes us on arrival. This evening enjoy dinner under the stars and share stories around the campfire. Tonight you have the choice of sleeping in our comfortable permanent safari tents or an air-conditioned lodge room.

Day 2 - (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
As the new day unfolds experience a private two hour cruise spotting crocodiles, birds, buffalos and other wildlife. This is a magical experience away from the masses in an area with the one of the highest concentration of saltwater crocodiles found in the world.

Afterwards we leave the bitumen and travel off road en-route to Twin and Jim Jim Falls, the jewels of Kakadu National Park. After a stop for lunch travel into Twin Falls Gorge which is accessed by 4-wheel drive track, a boat shuttle service and a rocky walking track and boardwalk. Once there relax on the sandy banks and admire the falls. There's more 4-wheel driving as we make our way to Jim Jim Falls where a walk through monsoon forest and over boulders takes us to the waterfall and plunge pool which are surrounded by 150 metre cliffs. Spend the afternoon taking in the sheer beauty of your spectacular surrounds before heading to our comfortable campsite located within Kakadu National Park where you can choose to sleep at our private campsite in permanent tents, out under the stars in swags or for those seeking comfort, an air-conditioned lodge room

Day 3 - (Breakfast, Lunch)
Rising early, we set the scene for today by taking the short hike to Nawurlandja lookout affording spectacular views of the escarpment country, Nourlangie and Anbangbang Billabong. Afterwards, visit the culturally significant Ubirr, located within the East Alligator Region of the park. Here you will view a wide range of ancient Aboriginal art which will be interpreted by your guide. Learn the story of the Rainbow Serpent and climb the Nadab Lookout for panoramic views over the floodplain and beyond into Arnhem Land. After lunch visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, a Gun-djeihmi name for the local area and creek on land owned by the mirarr clan. See the audio-visual presentations and Marrawuddi Gallery showcasing Aboriginal art by artists from within Kakadu and the wider region. En route to Darwin we stop in for a visit at the Mamukala Wetlands offering a stunning variety of birdlife which can be spotted on the viewing platform or boardwalk. This afternoon, put your feet up and relax as your guide returns you to your Darwin accommodation after three magical days of adventure, wildlife, rich in cultural history and natural beauty.

Special Dietary requirements and allergies

• Our menu is designed for both carnivores and vegetarians. If you are have any special dietary needs or allergies, please contact us to discuss this at time of booking as you may need to provide your own supplementary food/ snacks depending on your specific dietary need or allergy.
• Wayoutback Australian Safaris operates in some remote parts of Australia where certain foods are not easily available and therefore cannot accommodate all dietary requests. At times, produce and products may be substituted as supply dictates and Wayoutback cannot guarantee the ingredients contained in these alternatives. Whilst all of our guides are trained in remote touring, they are not nutritionists and neither they nor Wayoutback Australian Safaris can advise of all ingredients contained in each food served on tour and are not responsible should an allergic reaction occur.
• If you have any allergies, please carry the necessary medication. Many dietary requirements are catered for in our standard menus. This change is effective for all new bookings from the 15th June 2014.
• Itinerary may change due to cultural reasons, seasonal changes, operational logistics and accessibility.
• Twin Falls boat shuttle fee is an additional $12.50 payable on day of departure.
• *Access to Twin and Jim Jim Falls cannot be guaranteed during the tropical summer months (approx December to June). At this time they will be substituted with locations such as Gunlom, Maguk (Barramundi Falls), Yurmikmik or Gubara Springs.
• * Wangi Falls may not be accessible during the wet season. During this time we will provide an alternative or spend more time in locations visited.
• Travel Insurance is strongly recommended for all travellers on all tours. Please refer to terms and conditions for more details.
• Safari is not suitable for children under 4 years of age.
• Safaris must be reconfirmed 48 hours prior to departure to confirm pick-up location and time.by phone direct with the tour operator - (Details of the tour operator is on your E-Ticket).
• Due to limited space on the vehicle please restrict luggage to one day pack and one soft overnight bag/backpack (maximum 10kg). Excess luggage should be stored at your Darwin accommodation.
